Is it necessary to remove basal cell via Mohs? What are alternatives?

I am 79 and have had two MOHS on the tip of my nose. On one they shaved excess skin on upper area of nose. My second procedure nothing was needed. My nose looks normal.

I had Mohn surgery on my hand squamous cell carcinoma and got staph.
