Recovery from a unilateral oophorectomy

Posted by rufus444 @smiles444, Jan 1, 2019

I had a unilateral oophorectomy on November 27, 2018 and I am in pain in my pelvic area on the right side. The surgery was to remove a large cyst. This was done laproscopically and I thought I would be almost recovered by now. It has been 5 weeks. A section of my small intestine was affixed to the right abdominal wall and the doctor fixed that. I now have pain in my right side that comes from my pelvic area and goes down into my thigh. I feel a burning sensation and puffiness in my right abdomen. I am supposed to see the doctor next week. I am concerned that this could be abdominal adhesions or nerve damage. I am not sure if what Is happening normal or not normal. I have spoken to the nurses at the doctor's office but she does not seem concerned. I am concerned and I am not sure if this is normal or not. Has anyone else had complications after an oophorectomy? This surgery was done in Tallahassee. I am regretting having the surgery. I am in worse pain now than I was before.

@alexxa88

I have this same issue except I had 4 ovarian torsions on both ends of a 13cm benign cystadeoma on my right ovary. They took the ovary left the tubes and other ovary and tube and where my ovary used to be is this intense dull ache (kind of like cramping) that I thought was associated with my period but it's all the time.
The only thing I could think of is remnants for your case and mine. Maybe a cyst was just forming again or not caught on the scan... make sure to keep advocating for yourself because docs tend to not believe women even female doctors! If you find out what the pain is drop a reply so we can know. I'll do the same. I'm about 3 months post op.

@alexxa88 how are you feeling now? Did you ever pinpoint the issue? I’m going through something very similar
