I was accepted into their 3 week chronic pain rehab program, but ended up being unable to attend because they do not take patients who are unable to participate in all aspects of the program. I had broken my foot and it has still not healed, so since I cannot do the physical maintenance portion of the program, they said I could call them when my foot is healed. I’m conflicted by this as chronic pain people have many barriers and this is one of them....ongoing or occasional acute issues.

@migizii So disheartening, isn't it, when our plans get waylaid? I wonder if there is an adjunct program that can be utilized or if the staff at the pain clinic was able to offer you any suggestions beyond "call us when you can"? How are you feeling beyond the disappointment?

You do make a lot of sense to me. After all one who has chronic pain (as myself) sometimes the pain can be as bad as a broken leg. I look at it this way: A person who does not have chronic pain from a number of health issues cannot properly put themselves in the position of a chronic pain person. How can guidelines be adhered to when the information cannot be understood properly. The state of mind the patient in the study is in cannot be understood properly. And on and on. But we must keep trying. Good luck.

Mayo has a 10 week class that you only meet once a week. You do not have to do any physical movement in the class. Dr. Joan Cronin instructs the classes on Mondays. I did the class and it's truely a great class. Please give it a try. It does teach most of the same thing as the rehab program. You can truely benefit from that class. And Joan is incredible. If you have a hard time get through to her let me know. I can give you her personal email or numbers
