@sheilawhitern You pose a great question, asking if depression is curable. I feel that the response by @delia74 was great, and very helpful!
I think we all agree that we need to do whatever will work for us, as we travel down the road of depression. Sometimes meditation is indeed helpful, or exercise, or talk therapy, journaling, and, yes, medications if warranted. There can be so many little bumps in the road, so many times we need an extra push to help us get through a period. Part of the challenge is recognizing when we need to step up our game and bring something else in for a short time, whatever that might be. In my own experience, it is not easy, it is not always pleasant, but the rewards for taking a good hard look at what is going on/my triggers, and doing the work to feel better, outweighs sitting and suffering.
Knowing ourselves well, and realizing we may function better on a day-to-day basis if we address issues holding us back, can be key to evening out the peaks and valleys of depressive thoughts/actions. We owe it to ourselves to be the best we can. And whatever path we take to help ourselves is the right one for us at that time.
