To denise @trnrmom1, Yes, I have had severe dry eyes for years. Ophthalmologists have tried numerous drops on me, but no drops ever helped me. I couldn't even keep the plugs in my eyes. I think I probably know the non-preservative you refer to me and it helped very little for me. The only thing that ever helped me was a Dr who cauterized my tear ducts [yes, it is painful as hell!]. I had it done twice [takes awhile to build up the stamina to request to have it done again!] and called to schedule a third time, but the Dr changed his specialty and now does cataracts only. I can't find anyone else to do it. And yes, even though I have severe dry eyes, my eyes water badly. I never got a satisfactory answer as to why, but I googled it and it is normal with dry eye, for some reason [I'm 77 and have memory problems]. I sympathize with you and wish I could give you helpful information. Dry eyes are tough. I think the worst for me is how painful they can be and the feeling that you have sand in your eyes when you blink [OUCH!]. As for the pain, it is like a migraine in your eyes, is the best way I can describe it. Hang in there and I hope you can find something that works for you!

I’m offering a suggestion…maybe it’s not your eyes. Have you tried to find the root cause of your eye problems. Your Thyroid can either be hyperthyroid or hypothyroid. Maybe you have hyperthyroidism which can cause dry eye. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto/Hypothyroidism and beginning the medication to treat this has helped my eyes. Also, the foods you eat could be causing this as well. I’ve had a food sensitivity test done and have eliminated all foods that I am sensitive to. It’s not been easy, but I also lost my taste/smell last December and it’s not back yet, so that does make things easier for me. But, I would give anything to get my taste and smell back! Good luck to you!
