I was super paranoid about the hair loss. I even covered my mirrors. What kept me sane and unafraid to go out and about was a baseball cap with synthetic hair attached. So much easier and comfortable than a wig. I'd throw on the hat in seconds before leaving the house. It was so realistic that even those who knew me including the nurses were surprised at how it looked like my own hair. I had two wigs, but I lived in that hat. I finished chemo 7/13/2020 and happy to have hair again, but I still have that hat. I think about wearing it again as the hair is dark auburn (what I used to dye it), and I used the hair loss as an opportunity to go fully gray (I'm 69). Somedays the gray just gets old, and I see the hat as a way to ditch the gray for a day.
