Medtronic Spinal Stimulator for fused Spines
Had two extensive spinal fusions which stabilized degenerative but severe back pain ensued.
Medtronic and a pain doc recommended a Medtronic STS. I just went thru with it and now have the most excruciating pain ever. Cutting thru scar tissue for the implant has been awful. Multiple other Tiny nerves were cut. If a surgeon can’t do it on a clean spine, DON’T DO IT

My husband had the trial Nevro and he thought it really worked so well he had the implant
It came with different settings than the “trial” had and it has never worked as well
Same with all the systems. The external trial works better
May I ask how long ago he had his SCS implanted? My surgery is coming up this month for the implant. Three years ago, my doctor wasn’t fully behind the SCS, but said technology has improved since then and now recommends.
How are you doing now, post surgery? 🙏🏼
I hope jaxtapoze is having a good response. Orks better with minimal previous spine surgery, less scar tissue and a good surgeon as well as a knowlegeable rep who knows how to porgram
Thanks for your well wishes. Due to a bad reaction to the Valium I wasn’t able to relax and had to stop the procedure. I felt every stab. I won’t be trying this again.
Oh goodness, they didn’t sedate you for your procedure?
No, they didn’t sedate me at all! The pain was excruciating. 😣
I'm doing the trial this coming Wednesday and I haven't had any previous spine surgery, but still a bit worried, although I guess the trial dosen't involve any invasive cutting etc. right ?
With my trial I was given propofol so I felt nothing. Apparently they woke me up long enough for the Boston Scientific Rep to ask me questions about the programs she was setting and where I felt the vibrations. Then they put me back to sleep and finished the procedure. There may have been one or two stitches I believe, but it was minimal. I have had 5 previous back surgeries. I would definitely recommend the trial as it made a lot of difference in relieving the sciatica that I constantly have.
Best of luck in your journey 🌸
