Do you lose hair with Taxol?
One of my nurses said that I would lose my hair with Taxol, another nurse said it may thin a bit but most patients don’t lose their hair with Taxol. I just want to prepare myself, I already have a wig, but I start with weekly Taxol for the next 12 weeks.

cccardenas112- I had Taxol and Carboplatin 2 years ago. I lost my hair in 2 weeks. I had my 2 chemos weekly.
My sister just had the same two but every 3 weeks. She lost hers after the 2nd treatment.
Maybe the carboplatin is the one that steals our hair. :-).
I bought 2 wigs and kind of wore one. It was during Covid, so I worked from home. Also, check out headcovers.com. They have really soft beanie hats. My head was cold, so I think I wore them day and night. I have about 8.
To add, when I started my chemo's I put on one bracelet and added every week. Once I got to six infusions, I took one off. Simple stretchy ones I got at Michaels.
I didn’t lose my hair on Carbo and Gemzar
I am glad for you. It must be my mix of carboplatin and taxol together.
These are very helpful ideas. I love the bracelet idea 🙂
I just have Taxol by itself and it seems to be have mixed results. Thank you 🙏🏼
I used Paxman cold cap with my 12 weekly Taxol/Herceptin treatments and did not lose my hair!
That’s great! I’m not a candidate for the cold calling because of my migraines. I’m glad you kept your hair:)
I lost my hair while getting A/C (red devil) infusions. Taxol seemed easier to handle in general, but that’s when my lashes and brows fell out. They came back fairly soon after treatment ended, thank goodness.
Best wishes,
Cindy
I started losing hair after 2 weeks on the A/C infusions (4 total). I continued to lose hair gradually over the 12 weeks of Taxol. The hair loss was over every bit of my body including nasal hairs. Also be careful of your fingernails. Losing fingernails and toenails is not uncommon. I was lucky enough to avoid that, but noticed some black areas towards the end.
I have the Taxol for the first 12 weeks so hopefully it will be gradual. I have the a/c for the last 12 weeks, 4 total, like you. I’m prepared to lose it then but just wasn’t sure about the first 12 weeks since 2 nurses told me 2 different things. Thank you! At least I won’t need a bikini wax for the summer, lol;) Thank you!
By the time I finished my reatment with Taxol, I didn't have a hair on my body. I knew I'd loose my hair near the beginning of treatment so I had my familly cut and use the clippers on my hair in preparation. And when it was coming out daily, my husband used the clippers to cut it very short. I didn't want to breath in short hairs as it was all over my pillow. I wore hats and scarves until my hair grew back. I felt good to take charge of the hair loss. Anything that I could control, I did.
