Yesterday my insurance company said that they would no longer pay for Forteo. I called Dr Mannstadt’s office and left a message for him. I was supposed to receive the Forteo pen next Wed. Since they have no prescription for me for the generic Teriparatde they will not tell me what my cost will be. I can not find a patient’s assistance program. I was on a program with Lily for Forteo. Can you help me?

Mannstadt's office can change the prescription to generic, I hope. Do you use the patient portal? Phone calls work too but it can take a couple of days. Sorry you are dealing with this.

You can get it through R X Advocates. Even though Lilly doesn't give it to people with Medicare, RX Advocates can get it for you for 70.00 a month. The price will depend on your yearly income. Their phone number is 1-844-559-8332, and the website is RX Advocates.com. I hope this helps.

If you are not on government assisted insurance you can contact Eli Lily's co-pay assistance. I was going to have to pay $4300 with insurance–with this co-pay assistance it is $4!!! I asked why this couldn't be the same amount for everyone–they had no response…

Did you apply to LillyCares? My income is much higher that 78K and LillyCares fully covered all 24 months of my treatment (I just finished in September). I didn't think they would cover anything but my doctors office kept encouraging my to apply.

It is something like a Tier 3/4(?) drug so the max income is quite a bit higher.lkel | @lkel | Nov 14 2:54pm

I applied through my Dr.'s office. It has been just over 24 months. The income level was $178K. I renewed last year with no problems. (And just got a renewal application but do not need it.)
janflute, if you are already on the Forteo, you'll be safe for a while until this get straightened out. It is terrible of the insurance co not to cover at least this last pen. I hope you have luck with one of these. Might be less expensive than your co-pay with generic Forteo--teriparatide Alvogen.
