Recommended nutritional drinks

What do people find to be the most palatable nutritional drinks for before and after surgery? There are lots to choose from.

I need to start one of those drinks 5 days before my surgery at home and have a choice of several to buy and I think all of them or most of them are high in sugar. I’m just interested in which one tastes the best since I’ll be drinking a couple a day starting next week. Surgery (total colon removal with permanent ileostomy) on December 21. Thanks for any help.

Not sure which tastes the best, but a lot better cold--I think.
Good luck with procedure, -going on 30+ years and no regret. (due to UC )

My Mayo team recommended Premier Protein with 30 grams of protein and only 1 gram of sugar. It’s tasty and dresses up nicely as a smoothie with
banana/strawberries/coffee.

Premier is the best. I drink Cafe Latte every day.

There’s 1 gram of sugar in Premier.

I like the Premier Protein chocolate... only 1 gram of sugar compared to 10 grams in the Ensure Chocolate... plus it costs much less than Nestle Impact, so it's a no-brainer for me 🙂

Water is always a good drink and many cases the best available.

Hi @annmg, I look forward to learning more about your ostomy journey. Do you mind sharing a bit more? Or were you requiring nutritional drinks for a non-ostomy reason?

I was reading the ostomy section and joined an existing conversation. I have pancreatic cancer.
