Gallbladder Cleansing: What helps with gallbladder sludge?

Posted by surfing @surfing, May 13, 2023

Hello ! i recently had an ultrasound, and my GI doc said it showed I have sludge in gallbladder, wanted to put me on some medication to dissolve stones, if any, with side effects im sure. Dont really want to go that route. Looking into a natural way to cleanse. Has anyone had success with this? I'v seen multiple cleansing drinks, but dont know which to buy. scary, what i am reading about liver and gallbladder stones, so on... I have no pain or attacks, but am concerned it could start, i am 69 yrs old and pretty healthy!! any input would be helpful !!thank you all

Hi @surfing, I also like to avoid medication unless it is absolutely necessary. Mayo Clinic has more information about the gallbladder cleansing that might be helpful.

"Gallstones that cause no symptoms typically require no treatment. If you have gallstones that require treatment, discuss proven treatment options with your doctor, such as surgical removal, bile salt tablets or sound wave therapy."
--- Gallbladder cleanse: A 'natural' remedy for gallstones?: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/gallstones/expert-answers/gallbladder-cleanse/faq-20058134.

Here's another article that may be helpful - "If you can't or don't want to undergo surgery and your gallstones are small, one option is to take ursodiol (Actigall, Urso), a naturally occurring bile acid that helps dissolve cholesterol stones when taken by mouth two to four times a day."

Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor?

Has anyone been told by your physician after an ultrasound, you have
gallbladder sludge?
My guess would be a large amount of people would have this, sounds like a pipe needing to be flushed!
Has anyone used a natural cleanser to flush this area? Searching for health remedies, where the doctors just want to prescribe prescription medicine with side effects.
Thank you,
sunny

@surfing, I moved your question about clearing the gallbladder of sludge to the earlier discussion that you started on the topic. I hope you saw the helpful post from John above. Thank you This is in response to your reply. I’m getting back late, I did get prescribed the medicine. I haven’t taken it yet. I wasn’t too sure about it after what I read. No pain no nothing just possible stones that’s why I don’t want to go on medicine and I certainly don’t want to wait to get pain to have to go on the medicine so I will look into some cleansing naturally thank you for your reply.

I just got my results back from an ultrasound of my liver and gallbladder and the reports state:

Enlarged Liver my measurements are 16.5 X 23.0 X 17.6 and sludge in my gallbladder.

What does this mean if anything. I have pain under my right rib cage for a year and horrible digestive issue; could this be the cause of the pain and digestive problems (I do eat vegetables).

Hi , I have had 2 years of digestive problems, intolerance to any fat, nausea, gas, diarrhea and bloating. I had a Hida scan for my gallbladder and showed biliary dyskinesia. Treatment is gallbladder removal. I had colonoscopy, endoscopy and those were normal. You may need more tests.
