After liver embolization: Looking for the best diet + food suggestions
We are looking for the best diet or food suggestions for after liver embolization. There is no nausea but still very weak. Monthly lanreotide shots are still in the picture. Diarrhea is controlled. Adding weight & strength are needed. Trying to avoid further radiation. Are there foods to avoid? We eat a healthy, overall diet, but not totally plant based or gluten free. Would that help? Thanks

I had both sides of my liver done I found eating small meals multiple times a day the best
However unfortunately it just takes time 6 weeks the first time 8 weeks the second time before I felt better the exhaustion is overwhelming
Happy healthy holidays good luck
What type of embolization did you have? Did it include radiation? I have been on lanreotide for 2-1/2 years and both sides of my liver were also done with high dose y90 radiation Sophiarose is right exhaustion is bad it’s hard to attribute what it’s from sometimes. As far as eating I eat what I can tolerate and whatever sounds good! However I have other issues with eating as I have gastrinomas. Keep eating as much as possible and keep moving as much as possible it will get better! Can I ask what type of tumors and grade you have?
Thank you for your encouragement. The exhaustion comes & goes. The primary is a carcinoid, very near the aorta, so cannot be surgically removed. There were many lesions on the liver. My understanding was the embolization was just to cut the blood supply to the liver lesions. The radiation might be later. So far 2 embolizations & 3 lanreotide shots. Still not sure what to expect for a few days following the shot.
The tumors are grade 2
Stage 4
I had bland embolization
No radiation
I am now on Everolimus lanreotide and Ocreotide did not work everything was still spreading and growing
I will know in March if it is working
If not I will do PRRT
You will get better
Happy holidays and Healthy new year
Don’t forget Lanreotide also causes exhaustion atleast it did for me
I have an unknown primary
I have tumors on my bile duct to my liver it can’t be removed
Good luck
Happy Healthy Holidays and New Year
So I am also grade 2 stage 4 ki-67 7% metatasic to both sides of the liver pancreatic primary I am probably starting everolimus soon, wondering how that is going? I am worried about side effects
I also have metastatic liver both sides
Also now in my spine L1 and T10 and ribs
The side effects of the Everolimus aren’t that bad I did get the mouth sores but I used warm very salty water rinses and that worked perfectly
I am more fatigued than usual
I get my first blood test on Friday fingers crossed
Just have to have hope!!
Good luck
Happy and Healthy Holidays
My husband had radioembolization to both lobes. It took a couple of weeks to get his energy back and for the pain to dissipate. This was 13 years ago so I don’t recall any dietary changes.
