For me, I actually prefer slim or low profile. But I also have a small men's pair of Hanes that's wider, but not quite boy shorts type. I never really cared for those, but that's just a personal preference. I think it depends on what material of shorts, pants etc that you are wearing with them. Maybe try it out both ways and see which you like best, and I hate to say this, but you may also need to wait for a "bad day" (flare day, for me) and see what you need then. I actually think less material is best, but then you might be the opposite of me. I like the bikini style, which I never thought I would.
