No....this just can't be. Thank you for letting me know. Of course, you can't do your shoulder exercises which will mean a longer recovery. What will the next surgery be....the rotator cuff repair on your left shoulder? You won't believe this and I am just amazed. I also had a secondary injury on my left shoulder and had to have a rotator cuff repair. This is unbelievable! I fell down the outside stairs carrying all the devices and prep materials for a patron dinner at the Art Academy to kick off the Jazz Festival. I had an elevator in my house that ended in the garage. Now I wonder why in the world I didn't use it.
And of course, my surgeon did the best he could but that shoulder is still weak and painful. I have MFR therapy on it twice a week. I am hesitant to have another surgery at 82 years old because that means that the recovery will interfere with my SFN (small fiber neuropathy) tolerance medications and exercises.
All four of my shoulder surgeries were done at Eisenhower in Palm Springs. I am trying to hold off on the next one or maybe just learn to live with the pain. What other questions do you have at this point about your reverse recovery? I do understand that you were not prepared to present questions earlier. You can still ask questions. Hopefully they can present the video so you can actually see what goes on during the reverse surgery.
I have also had two guided pain injections on the "new" issue. They had me look at the rotator cuff repair on the screen as it is now. Looked a bit crumpled up to me and that's the way it feels. I don't want to frighten you but they had to hold me down for the injections.
I am sorry I am not in Phoenix to at least be a little more helpful. Do you have someone at home who can lend a hand with the wrist repair? In my experience at Mayo in Rochester, I was impressed with the amount of testing and explaining that they did for me. What department are you in at this point?
Please stay in touch.........Don't be afraid to call a halt to the procedure until you have images and explanations. There will still be some fear but at least you will know what is supposed to happen and how you can support the surgical efforts.
May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.
Chris
