What are you doing for osteoporosis PT and how are you now?

Also, what are you taking for your arrhythmias? Have they gotten better?

Hello @ Timely,

Sorry I haven’t replied sooner; I’ve had eye problems (glaucoma) flare up and I haven’t been reading emails. This is probably more info than you want . . .

For OP - I’m power walking 20-30 minutes 6 days/wk and doing light weights and balance exercises. And stomping. I take 350 mg of calcium morning and evening, also a women’s multi-vitamin, 2,000 vitamin D, and 500 of C. I eat organically grown and have eaten no red meat for over 50 yrs. I get additional calcium from yogurt and cheese.

For a-fib. I’ve been taking diltiazem extended release for a-fib for 7-8 years. I bit the bullet last Feb and started taking blood thinners. (Generic Eliquis which I order from Canada - much cheaper than US!). The a-fib incidents usually happen at night after I’ve gone to bed. I get up and drink 8-12 oz of water ( cardio told me it can help re-start normal rhythm), make hibiscus (lowers BP) with chamomile (relaxing) tea, take a ½ extra doze of BP meds, do a relaxation exercise, and sit and read or stream something. After 1 to 1-1/2 hrs, things settle down, and I go back to bed. Then, the a-fib became more frequent over the past year, and my night-time “fix” didn’t always work, resulting in ER visits and a cardio version on the last visit. My local cardio referred me to an OHSU (Oregon Health Sciences U) cardio to discuss an ablation. I met with the team’s nurse practitioner two months ago for a required preliminary visit, and I meet with the surgeon next week (first appointment I could get. No cancellations came up.)

I’m scheduled for glaucoma/atypical cataract surgery at the Casey Eye Institute at OHSU in Jan and March. The eye surgeon and my local cardio each said I should try to have the ablation, first. Will see, after meeting with the ablation doc next week, if he can work with the eye doc to do some kind of surgery rescheduling magic.

I’ve decided to start Tymlos, but am concerned about the side effects and when to start, with surgery upcoming. I have an history of allergic reactions to seven different drugs that caused rashes, itchy hives, or my throat closing up. I told the endo I’d like to ramp up the dose (huge thanks to Windyshores’ information!) and she said it’s not possible. It’s one shot and the amount can’t be adjusted. She gets samples from the manufacturer and will give me enough samples for the whole treatment. I wonder if the sample pens she gets could, somehow, be different from the Tymlos pens Windyshores and others have used. ???? So, that’s the story for now. Except: An owl sat in a tree behind our townhouse last evening, hooting its hoots for a couple hours. Wonderful!
