Do You Live in "Shunland"?

Maybe you've noticed that without knowing it, you have relocated to "Shunland".

I don't mean "shun" as in feeling excluded, though that may be part of it.

Shunland is a place with two neighborhoods -- on the one side, it's dark, with places like Isolation, Depression, Frustration, Aggravation. The other side is brighter; its places are Connection, Satisfaction, Motivation, Inspiration, and so on.

I know it happened to me; at some point after having a stroke, I found myself in Shunland.

What I then realized was that I can live on either side of Shunland -- whichever side I pick.

I picked the brighter side.

I have lived in Shunland all my life. When I was a little girl no one wanted to play with me. They chased me away. Today I am 89 and nothing has changed.

I have lived in Shunland all my life. When I was a little girl no one wanted to play with me. They chased me away. Today I am 89 and nothing has changed.

You know, I was the same way.

I was a big, clumsy, asthmatic kid who couldn't run with the others. I preferred reading, anyway.

I went to a big suburban Chicago high school, with a graduating class of almost 700. Know how many kids signed my yearbook and wanted me to sign theirs? Zero.

I learned early on that I'd have to find a different way through life, and I have. It's worked out okay.

Now I'm a big, clumsy, stroke patient old guy who can barely walk a hundred yards and is typing this one-handed.

It's not ideal, but I have a wife who loves me, a couple of friends, and life isn't perfect, but not bad at all. I'm a lucky guy.

Yes, you are. I was lucky for 59 years, but then he died. I have been home all week. No one cares. This has become the new normal.

Everyone is on their own path and journey in life. Alone. Make your particular journey the very best it can be!
We only get 1 shot at it!
And besides - who wants to be friends with "shunners" anyway?
When you really think about it - such sad, pathetic people.
What one thinks - often is their reality. It's All Good! 🙂
