Is surgery better or just dealing with the tumor?

devil4ever,

This is my experience. I had a benign tumor on my thyroid and if I had left it in, I would have died. It grew around my windpipe and was choking me. It was growing so fast that the decision was for me to have surgery when I was 4 months pregnant. If I were you, I would definitely have the surgery right away. Why wait?

Hello thank you since you had it done how have you been doing. any side effects since the surgery

If the nodule grows and interferes with structures, you definitely needed to do something. However, now there is a new procedure that MIGHT be an option for people….. Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA). RFA can shrink the nodule so it doesn’t interfere with structures…. Always better to keep organs! In my opinion, why have an organ removed if you can have the issue shrunk so it doesn’t interfere? Synthroid is not always easy to get adjusted on, so if someone has an option to try RFA I think they should try it. When people say cysts “Can” turn to cancer it gets confusing. Anything “can” turn to cancer but what is the probability? Try and shrink it and monitor it seems less invasive than removal. The body has a great system for repairing what it can through our own systems so procedures like RFA seem like they are worth a try. like
