I don't see anyone here who has used clear dish liquid and white vinegar for sterilization. I read somewhere to wash items in clear dish soap after every use and soak items in vinegar every other day. I am now wondering if my additional discomfort and increased cough have to do with residual soap or vinegar left in the aerobika. I am miserable.

Welcome to Mayo Connect, where you can converse with peo0ple who have been living with Bronchiectasis and MAC.
@scoop is right - vinegar may be an adequate cleaner in some circumstances, but NTM needs a stronger approach. Any references I found to disinfecting with vinegar also dated back 10 years or more - probably before the current understanding of how NTM "hides" in hard to destroy biofilm.
So, dish soap + vinegar = NO
Wash in mild soap and disinfect by boiling in purified water or using a baby bottle or microwave sterilizer.
Can you tell us a little about your diagnosis, and expand on why "I am miserable..."?

Hi Stacie,
I clean my Aerobika and neb cup in a solution of warm water and Dawn after each use. I soak about part for 15 or more minutes. I also soak parts every few days in vinegar and water (1:1) and use microwave sterilizer bags every week.
