I went swimming in a chlorinated pool for the first time. The next day saw my protective seal was melted in my pouch. Has anyone else ever experience this? Any suggestions? Thanks.
I use the Hollister two piece precut pouch system. I go to aqua classes for an hour twice a week in chlorinated pool with no problem. I have even spent a few minutes in the jacuzzi afterwards with no problem. I change my system every three to four days. So far I am happy with it.

I use the Coloplast sensura mio products. I really don’t do anything special to prepare to swim, snorkel, or hot tub. I’ve spent well over an hour in the pool/ocean followed by a hot tub. I do however, try to change out of my wet clothing and into something dry as soon as I can. I just don’t like the feel of my bag being wet when I’m sitting around.
I don’t add anything for an additional seal. I have a stealth belt I wear under my suit to support the device and keep the pouch contained but otherwise nothing different. I am surprised it stays stuck tight but it does.
Hi! I'm a little confused by "my protective seal was melted in my pouch". Was the seal material inside the pouch? Or do you mean that the edges of the seal were melted or gummy?
I find that the edges of my Coloplast Assura wafer get gummy with water exposure - because they don't have any tape. I use SureSeal - which is a clear plastic film - over my wafer if I am going to be in the water a lot, or I picture frame it with 3M Medipore tape if I'm going for an hour or so.

Thanks so much for your reply. I attach the ring to the pouch before I put on the pouch. Somehow the ring melted moving towards the inside of the pouch. Do you put on the SureSeal before you attach your pouch?

Hi @a009507, I'm tagging fellow ostomates who swim like @patdame @susanbfoster @mepconnect @ggarrepy @jmcmurdo to offer their tips about a seal that works in chlorinated pools. And any other swimming tips.

Thanks so much Colleen.
I’m using a 1 piece Sensura Mio soft convex pouch with Bravo protective seal. Are you using a protective seal/some type of wafer? Thanks.

I put the ring over the stoma first. I fing that this hold the pouch somewhat more secure.
Thanks.
