@ursweetpam

Hi, I'm Pam. I am 3 years 3 months past my failed Laminectomy/ microdiscectomy. I herniated my L5-S1 but was labeled as a pill seeker until my Dr decided she was sick of seeing me and sent me for the MRI. I suffered for so many years, barely able to get out of bed some days and I had a job that required heavy lifting. Anyway, while I was in surgery, the surgeon said he found I had many arachnoid scars and a large arachnoid cyst that needed drained and that the damage was dar qorse than showed up on the MRI. He said my bones were grey and brittle and that my nerve roots were smashed, glued together and frayed.
I have been suffering from horrible pain in my left leg, all the way to my toes from nerve damage and I have back pain still. I had a spinal cord stimulator put in October of 2015. That required another laminectomy to my thoratic spine and it didn't give me the relief I had been hoping for. Hoping i can chat with others who have been through similar situations as I have and maybe get some answers to some annoying and sometimes painful problems. Thanks.

Hi @ursweetpam I don't have an answer for you as I have bad nerve pain also and looking for advice on what to use or get for it. I just wanted you to know I hope you find something to help you and I am praying for you. Don't get discouraged about your pain. Just keep a positive outlook on it. I know that's easier said than done, but stay positive.

@ursweetpam So sorry for all you,ve been through .My nerves to my legs are damaged from L2fracture and other back problems I know what pain your going through from all the research I've done what helps me is B complex for it helps nerves a cream called My pain away it is a Fibro cream but rub it On my lower back and legs I get relief from nerve pain I also use Arnica cream and Arnica ☕ it relieved the pain as I have fibromyalgia also Being a retired nurse I've had to do alternatives as I'm not one for pills but a pain Dr.inject my back relieved also he does a nerve block once our bodies hurt it's a try and see On things.but this helps me.

@lioness, I am currently trying magnesium to control the jumping, cramping spasms in my leg. I hate that I can't keep my leg still once I stop standing. I have drop foot in that leg and it is getting better too but it sure took a long time. I stopped wearing my leg brace a year ago because it made my leg hurts so bad after a minute on. I can't have injections to my spine because of the spinal cord stimulator (risk of infection is the reason) Besides, injections are probably the cause of the arachnoiditis anyway. I have my bed strategically placed a certain way on my bed to soften and help with the pressure to certain nerves. I found an amazing chiropractor who realized my hip wasn't sitting tight in my pelvis and the whole left side was off center very bad. He said it was probably surgery trauma. I couldn't walk for almost 2 years but my surgeon didnt know what the problem was. I also take Gabapentin for the bee stinging, feeling. It also helps with the feeling I dropped a can on it. I've tried weaning myself off of it because I immediately gained over 50 lbs on it. That is not a good idea. I never realized how much it helped until I didn't take it anymore.
I hope you can find some relief for your pain. I understand totally how you feel.

@ursweetpam the medicine I use to take for R.L.S. doesn't work anymore Last night I finally used Wintergreen alcohol on my legs ,finally they settled down .Most rubbing alcohol is white ,it's hard to find green alcohol ,Wintergreen alcohol some places don't carry it why I don't know for me it works Yes I too like my chiropractor. With are pain one thing is proven if we don't keep moving ,we lose it.

You might be suffering from low electrolytes in your body , that will cause cramps in your legs

Thanks @nmo2016. I'll take all the prayers you can give. I try not to get discouraged especially when I know others are suffering much worse than I am. Some days are better than others. Keeping you in my prayers too.

@lioness my mom used to use that on my brothers for growing pains! I remember her rubbing their legs when they played to hard and had leg pains at night. Mine isn't restless leg although I used to get that all the time. I had a b-12 deficiency and once started taking it that stopped. I can literally see my muscles jumping in my leg and if I move the wrong way, I get a weird kind of cramp from my thigh to my foot. Sometimes if I push really hard behind my knee, I can make it stop along with the stinging in my foot but it's only temporary and I can't sleep that way. My pain Dr had a cream compounded and shipped to me that helps some. I put it everywhere and then wait 10 minutes and follow with lidocaine cream. I'm not sure what exactly is in the first cream but I do know it has Gabapentin and some sort of muscle relaxer that is absorbed through the skin but they said it has something for pain in it as well. I may have to look up Arnica cream though.

Thank you so much and I just got finished telling my mother about people hurt much more than I do.
