Has anyone experienced internal vibrations?

Posted by redladyjoni @redladyjoni, Nov 26, 2018

I started having the only way I can explain it is internal vibrations. I've had them for 3 months now, I went to t hihe ER and they told me it was anxiety. A doctor diagnosed me at a clinic as having Lyme disease I've started a 21-day prescription of Doxycycline I'm on day 7. I went to a psychiatrist a week ago to get something because of my nerves are just over the brink. He prescribed me Gabapentin and Valium I've only been on them a few days.
Has anyone experienced these internal vibrations?I have them almost 24/7 chest neck stomach from the hips down. I have more lab tests that should be in today, but the doctor's office said that they would not call unless there was some abnormality in the lab work.

This might be a stretch for some but has anyone considered "tactile hallucinations" causing internal vibrations?
You certainly DO NOT have to have schizophrenia to experience this. And this condition is more common than one may think.
I have - what is call medically - "formication". It is a "sensation" of insects crawling over the skin (it affects my scalp only, worse at night, but not every night). There are lots of possible causes: Anxiety disorders, bi-polar, hormone changes, depression, OCD, a traumatic brain injury (which I did have), migraines (which I have), MS, Parkinson's disease, lots of medications for many different conditions and stroke to name a few.
I also deal with anxiety and some depression. But it really started after my concussion in 2019 and continues to this day. I do have a steroid ointment for application to my scalp which is helpful.
If every possible "physical" condition has been ruled out (& there are always more to be discovered...) it could be related to the mind. In my opinion, the mind-body connection is undeniable.
The very best of luck to all with this awful sensation.

Other than a brain issue I have been wondering if it could be muscle related.
I have had mine for a few
years and it has moved to different locations

Well my new family dr sent me to an Endocrinologist as I do have Hoshimoto and after bloodwork it showed I’m still having issues getting my Thyroid on track. It’s been messed up few years now and my Drs kept changing my synthroid dosage. After I told my Dr about my hair falling out I got the attention needed to see the Thyroid Dr. he did an ultrasound but it looks ok. So he dropped my thyroid med to 88mg this week n said to stop taking my 100 for a week n start on the 88mg. He seems to think it’ll stop my internal Vibrations. That would be Great, I’m tired of these and I know my Family is tired of me saying “ Dang these Vibrations” if I only had a jar full of $ for every time I’ve said that. Roughly 20 times a day. I’ve had these Vibrations now for 3 years, 2mon. n couple weeks. Yes I’m counting. So will see when I go back for new bloodwork in 2 months. God Bless our Country 🇺🇸

I had internal vibrations that I could feel in my chest when I was resting. This went on for several years until I had my cervical fusion and then I never felt again and its been a year sine the surgery. I would describe it as quivering in my chest. I think people like to blame everything on anxiety but you say you are having. Are the meds helping with that? If there not then its probably not anxiety related. In my case it did not appear to be. If you have Lymes disease that seems like a likely cause for vibration. I hope you feel better soon.

Oh yes, every day for 1.5 years. Recent Mayo visit determined it to be central sensitization, a problem with the central nervous system. I am doing the therapies they have suggested. They say it will take a long time, but I am patient and persistent and want this to go away.

Hello,
Would you mind sharing what therapies you are using.
My internal vibrations started again. No solutions so far.
Thanks.

Of course, I am happy to share! Look up central sensitization for an explanation of what happens to our central nervous system. The internal vibrations are a symptom of it, as well as many other symptoms. The therapies include medication (I take Cymbalta) and life changes. You can turn down the volume of the symptoms to a reasonable level. Bottom line: behavior changes biology. You can create new pathways in the central nervous system to make the unhealthy neuropathways shrink.

Practice moderation. Pace yourself to be consistently active. Do not engage in catastrophic thinking. Do not ruminate about your symptoms. Notice your thoughts and turn them around. Express gratitude. Exercise. Relaxation. Guided meditation. Breathing. Mindfulness. Grounding. Guided imagery. Sleep. Live your plan, not your symptoms.

Pain everywhere, swelling, numbness & tingling mostly in my legs and feet, extreme fatigue, vision and speech issues, trouble walking and balance is off, constipation and urgency to urinate to the point that I sometimes have accidents. I can't think straight most of the time, trying to type this is difficult. We have a Mayo Clinic here in Wisconsin, it's about three hours north from where I am in Janesville, WI. I have to change my HMO come October in order to see a specialist there.

Hello, I had same issue. 8 doctors, 2 hospitals visits. Finally had an allergy test to food. Found I have a high histamine intolerance. If I eat anything that is high in histamine it causes everything you just posted. Pulse my blood pressure would rise taking away all my energy. Since Covid a lot of people apparently are having this issue. Doctors are not finding it because it’s new. Not sure if this is your problem but totally worth a shot. I also know alcohol and pop make it worse. It takes 24 hrs to clean out and start over. Hope this helps.

After a doctor was almost successful in killing me in 2019, I've seen pretty much every doctor that ends in ologist. Misdiagnosed with Parkinson's, MS, and several others. No physical explanation for my symptoms, which range from excruciating nerve pain all over, tremors, epileptic jerking and nonepileptic seizures, internal vibrations, migraines, dizziness. I was finally diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). I went to Mayo for a week long clinic for my motor issues. That only helped with the tremors and jerking. I then discovered Re-Active PT clinic in CA. I recently spent a month there and learned the tools needed to stop the seizures and pretty much everything else. You can retrain the brain. We are all similar in our symptoms, be we are all different in our rehab. They are all doctors and they work as a group to customize your healing. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to be there and I'm actually back to work full-time after laying on the floor in misery for years.

Hello Jeff. I have the same symptoms as you. Can we possibly talk offline? My doctors are really puzzled by this and it has been going on for me for a year now. I wish I knew what the cause was.

I tried messaging you through this MAYO CONNECT portal, but it won't let me send you anything. It just tells me that I haven't entered any text, even though I have. If you are unable to message me too due to the technology issues with MAYO CONNECT, perhaps we can discuss this further on the Facebook "internal tremors" group or else the Facebook "sleep tremors" group. Both are private groups, but the administrators will likely grant you access to join in the discussions there. Thank you!

The following may not add any value in your search for answers, but I thought I would ask post this in case it helps. Is your bed located near a Smart meter that measures how much electricity your house is using? Electric companies love the smart meter because they can read your usage each month from a central location and avoid an onsite meter reader. They installed a smart meter on the outside brick wall on my home that is directly beside (inches) my bed. (The meter is just on the other side of the wall from my headboard.) I did not know they had done this until I began experiencing “electrical” sensations shoot through my body’. This only happened at night when lying on the bed. I had them remove the smart meter and go back to a standard meter that requires a meter reader. They charge me $20. extra every month for this, but I haven’t had any more electrical vibrations, so I’ll keep paying the extra $20. each month. I hope you find answers.

Hello, thanks for your input. I don't have the opportunity to attend su h a clinic. I have internal vibrations, faciculations, pain on left side, mild tremors, tingling, etc. Do you mind elaborating what, in your case, was helpful to rewire the brain? How was your treatment? What did you do? What do you suggest? This might help to have an indea about the life changes and other things I may try do or take... Many thanks and best wishes...
