Hi, has anyone taken tramadol for pain? I have pain in my back mostly on left side and down into my knee. I've had this problem for the last 4 years and no one seems to know what to do. I had shots in my back and gel shots in my knees - nothing has helped. Months and months of physical therapy. The pain goes away when I sit down but kills when I stand up and walk. I'm getting worse by the day. Help!

Tramadol has been a miracle drug for me. It conquered knee pain and other pain episodes over the last 15 years. I have never used it longer than 6 months. Gabapentin caused rapid weight gain. I quit taking it because I could not control my weight.

Your pain sounds like what I had exactly. Have you had your hips x-rayed? The third doctor finally x-rayed mine and said my right hip was bone on bone and causing the pain in my knee. The other hip was not far behind. Just a thought.....mine did get worse by the day and when I had the hip replacement the surgeon said the bone was breaking apart at that point. I had to wait too long for a diagnosis! Best of luck to you for pain relief. No drugs helped my pain prior to surgery although narcotics lessened it somewhat.
