Cardio doctor says I may have Neuropathy
I recently had a heart attack which resulted in two stents. I’m taking Plavix and asprin. After telling my cardio dr that my feet and hands get pins and needles, he simple said “Neuropathy”. So I guess I now go see a Neurologist. Yet I’ve read that statins (Plavix) can cause this feeling too, however cardio dr did not feel that was the cause. So should I start with my regular doctor for a Neurologist referral?

Hi @lesb0298, Sorry to hear your treatment may have caused the neuropathy. There is another discussion that might be helpful:

It might be easier to see a neurologist if you have a referral from your regular doctor. Have you talked with your cardiologist to see if there are any alternatives to Plavix that may not have the same side effects?
Thank you John. Goodness, I will print this and take to my cardio. I do think I need to cover all basis though and will be looking for a Neurologist as well.
I’m actually in the throws of seeing a new cardio as this one is very difficult to converse with (very slow responses). From all I’ve read, Plavix is one of the better statins as far as other alternatives. Since it will be a year this next week, I’m hoping I don’t have to take them anymore. Thank you so much for your response and suggestions.
