HI arthur57,

Thank you for your contribution.
Can you explain more about the "latest...version"?
I didn't know that there was more than one version of Paxlovid.

Do you fit the parameters of 1) previously diagnosed with an autoimmune disease/arthritis and 2) got relief of those AI/arthritis symptoms from Paxlovid? I'm keeping track of the number of people who post who fit these parameters specifically. Not sure why I'm doing this... We are at 16 people so far.

Thanks again!

Hi annewood!

Yes, I learned this recently when I came down with Covid in September, my second time. When I had Covid the first time in July of 2021 I was able to secure the Paxlovid script and I couldn't believe how fast it kicked it, was mostly feeling like new after only one day of taking it (3 pills). I did follow the directions and finished the next 4 days. So now I get it again just 2 months ago. I go to urgent care, feeling poorly pretty fast. I asked for Paxlovid and mentioned it helped immensely when I took it originally. She proceeded to ask me if I had a subsequent kidney function test??? I was puzzled but evidently they found out the original paxlovid could cause kidney issues in some patients, especially older ones. I'm now 66 and healthy. So she said they now offer a kidney friendly version but you need to have script written for the newer version (what's that all about). so thats how I know and my pharmacist confirmed when I picked it up. Again after just one day, it kicked my Covid completely. This time I saved the remaining 4 days of paxlovid, just in case, lol.

Also, this drug has only been approved for covid from what I gather. Maybe pfizer is or will do trials for the indication of arthritis if it's helping folks, which it sounds like it is, at least from what I've read here. They would be stupid not to, as the market would be immense if it proved to be of significant value to arthritis victims of which there are millions of course.

Best to you!

Sorry, I forgot to answer your question. No I have never been diagnosed with any autoimmune disease and do have arthritis like most folks my age (66) but is osteoarthritis which is most common kind. Only in my lower back but I'll deal with it as it doesn't change my lifestyle to any degree. Thanks.
