That is one big tree outside of the window Elizabeth. Looks like they had to saw one of the branches off. So glad to hear your son is doing better and that you get to spend Thanksgiving with him. Hoping you have a blessed week Elizabeth!

Yes, dear John. That's my bived live oak tree with Spanish moss, housing sev R al squirrel nests,lots of birds, occasional owl and many views or nature. It's about 50 years old, still a youth as our live oaks go. We have ma y in Jacksonville over 200 years old and doing well.

Since in in a condo, the tree had to have some pruning to allow large truck deliveries. I fought some removal, and understand these. I'm the tree protector on our property!
This I'd my daily morning, tally all day view from my upstairs bedroom. I've begun last several months keeping my drapes fully open to the world, except when dressing...
This is a wonderful way to open myself to nature,to the world, not close off anx hibernate as I've done for years! Truly growth. Healthy.

Happy Thanksgiving to you!!!!

Fancis, I love your rescue plants from the dump! Is it an aloe plant? It looks like an aloe flower to me??? Love it!

Blessings,
Elizabeth

@johnbishop, and all...
John, I gave my glorious live oak tree more thought and here are a couple of pictures to give you better idea of this tree.

This property o n which my condominium buildings are built, was northern Florida swamp land. In the early 1970s, these buildings were built by filling the swamp with 'fill'. I am still in a flood zone, 3 areas are and do have some flooding during storms. We're addressed these issues with burms, bringing in rip rap and filling at the back of the property where we have drainage, a small creek flowing beside, behind the property to the St. John's River to the Atlantic.
Part of that creek area is preserved land and can't be built on...goody.

There were many water oak trees that have now aged out and we removed. They've a good life for 25-35 years. We have loblolly, bay, live oak, palm of various sorts, magestic and flowering southern magnolia...Red maple were planted that have lived out their lifespans as well. E
We had lovely dogwood trees. Gone! A blight hit several years ago a wiped out our many dogwoods.

All those trees are native to North Florida.
The live oaks left here by the builders must have been large enough to be worthy of saving and strong enough to survive, about 25-50 years old, not so large as to make building costly.

The pictures of this one I suppose show it to be 100 years old +.

Enjoy..and blessings. Elizabeth
