Collagen for osteoporosis?
My friend's medical doctor has her take collagen for her bones. I decided to try it and wondered if anyone knows more than I do about this.

Has anyone heard of or used OSAplex supplement for bone support. My osteopath recommended this supplement when I asker her for a collagen peptides recommendation.
Thank you for any information you may have.
There has to be a point where something went wrong in my body to cause this amount of bone loss.
I’m on the same journey bunky44.
Do you take vitamin K2?
Found in the web.
Type I. This type makes up 90% of your body’s collagen. Type I is densely packed and used to provide structure to your skin, bones, tendons and ligaments.
Type II. This type is found in elastic cartilage, which provides joint support.
Type III. This type is found in muscles, arteries and organs.
Type IV. This type is found in the layers of your skin.
Type V. This type is found in the cornea of your eyes, some layers of skin, hair and tissue of the placenta.
I take Great Lakes wellness collagen types one and three. Two scoops with organic bone broth.
I think it has been helping me to recover from multiple vertebrae fractures.
Good Morning, all~
Thank you for your question.
I found out after years of being so very physical and healthy...that in my early 20's, having severe Endometreosis..and then having to have Depo-prevera injections...that that medication is a bone robbing medication. I have no other answer for the bone loss that I have. My older sister, 81, who never really did anything to aid in her bones staying strong, barely has Osteopenia....
I have been using the 5 types of collagen, (Code-age) for many years now and do feel the benefits of it. I also added in Saw Palmetto 250mg. a day and can really feel and see the difference adding in this supplement as well. I use Bone-Up these days and also take Strontium...so my DEXA isn't as accurate as it would be if I didn't use Strontium..I understand this. Vit K-2 is in Bone-up. I'm now 79 and even with the compression frxs in my spine..have little to no pain..most of my days. I use a hot pack when I do have pain as well as a red-infrared belt..which really works wonders, as well. I wish everyone would feel as well as I do, frankly.
Seems like my younger friends are all going through a lot of discomfort these days...as I don't see them taking many supplements to aid in their aging processes. I take a plethora of supplements that I've researched and feel good for taking. My labs are all within normal ranges..I avoid sugar, alcohol...and red meat...also mostly eating organic foods. While it's very difficult, these days to stay positive about aging and life in general...being grateful for what we do have, I've found to be most beneficial as well.
I wish you all the best...blessing to you all.
@bunky44 do you take calcium supplements or do you get calcium from diet? if you get calcium from diet, could you share from what food sources and how much daily? thank you!
Hi, Mayblin~
I use Bone-up...6 tablets a day....Since I don't avail myself of too many dairy choices...I don' t feel my daily intake of calcium by food is that much. The collagen has calcium in it...I also take Vit-d3....as well a multi-vitamin/mineral combo.
I am currently now..(I guess because of the weather changes) eating more cooked dark greens and quashes, sweet potatoes, onions, mushrooms., garlic...lots of garlic....
Thanks for your question.
I see you ladies taking collagen but why? Is it beneficial to osteoporosis or just to the condition of your skin? Just curious.
Hello tilou~
You might google 'collagen' and see what you think. I feel it's been very beneficial for me to take....I can see and feel the difference in my body since I've been using it on a daily basis..and have for years now. There are many kinds as well as different 'types' in the products out there. I chose "Code age" for its ingredients and price and am pleased with this product. Good luck on your search.
I take Nativepath bone health collagen. It has Fortibone and Verisiol. And it’s not made with shellfish or eggs(which I’m sensitive to). I also don’t add it to hot drinks after reading this article, https://today.tamu.edu/2019/11/04/collagen-in-your-coffee-a-scientist-says-forget-it/, from Texas A&M.
