Silent Reflux or LPR
Has anyone been diagnosed with silent reflux or LPR? This is a condition where there is no heartburn, but acid makes its way to the throat. I have had a sore throat/throat irritation for over two years.
Would like to treat without PPI and do what I can homeopathically.

You can try to tuck a bunch of blanket under your bottom. I think it helps.
Hi, I recommend following the dietary guidelines outlined in Jamie Koufman's book "Dr. Koufman's Acid Reflux Diet" . However, I suggest reading her first book, "Dropping Acid: The Reflux Diet Cookbook & Cure," before starting. This book delves into the scientific aspects of reflux and offers a plethora of interesting and useful recipes that may aid in managing your reflux.
Additionally, there is a dedicated website, refluxgate.com, entirely focused on treating reflux through dietary changes and other methods. I hope you find this information helpful!

I am a side sleeper with GERD and sleep apnea and I have the same sliding down issue even with an adjustable bed. I hadn't really played with the leg elevation much though, but that's a good idea to see if it keeps me from sliding down. I also have a back back though so if I am sleeping on my side shaped like a banana LOL, I may then throw out my back. I already sleep with two pillows between my knees. It's such a challenge to get situated in bed. I do know I'm still getting some elevation though because when I go to a hotel and have to sleep on a perfectly flat bed, it feels like my head is going downhill instead of flat. Very uncomfortable. I just had to put the sofa cushions in the hotel room under the head of my mattress to sleep.
Yes, it's hard for a side sleeper to sleep in the recliner. I can only be on my back in the recliner or it hurts my back, but on my back my sleep apnea is worse. It's hard to decide which problem I want to battle each night. LOL
My neighbor just turned 97. I think of all my physical challenges now and think if this is what my body feels like at 64, I can't imagine what it would feel like to be 97! Holy moly!
Good luck to all!
Boy, I really can relate. Thank goodness you can laugh about it. That sure helps me too. If I could just get rid of the gerd, I could cope better with pillow support of the the bad knee and neck support. Must be a better way to keep from sliding down with my wedge. Have to admit flannel sheets on the bed and cotton sleepshirt tucked into sleep pants helps a bit!

I just thought of the perfect solution…drumroll please…Velcro sheets and jammies! Can you imagine? 🤣
I also have very bad silent reflex. My main symptom is extremely sore throat upon lightning in the morning. I did some research and found out that sleeping pills, I take zolpidem when I need it, may cause acid reflux. Has anyone out there experienced the same thing with sleeping pills.
This sounds exactly like me. I had a panic attack because I was unable to breathe. I went to the ER. They told me I have acid reflux but after tests and no heartburn I have LPR. The GI doctor just wants to treat me with ppi meds. Have have been on 3 different ones because they do not work for me. Not sure what to do. Have you found any relief?
This has been mentioned several times before, but check out The Chronic Cough Enigma by Dr. Jamie Koufmann. It’s an easy to understand explanation of LPR with suggestions on how to remedy the problem-or at least improve. Book is appropriate even if you don’t have a cough, just the sore throat.
Best wishes, Cindy
I have 2 of her books and watch her monthly q&a. It has been helpful. I have changed my diet but still have issues with congestion and the Globus sensation daily.
It was suggested that I go see an allergist who specializes in sinuses. He did allergy testing and said I am very allergic to dust mites. He is sending me in a perscription for a new nasal spray, as I told him I have an anxiety attack when I cannot breathe thru my nose!! And actually, as the weather has changed, the nose closing off is less than before. I am hoping the new spray will be my salvation.
