@jlfisher56 Thank you for sharing. So can empathize with those knots in the back. I cannot use steroids so I do all I can to exercise, eat healthy and keep my thoughts positive. I have learned that negative thinking doth make my pain worse as in getting all tied up in knots. At times I see a pain specialist and get a numbing agent injected into trigger points to help those muscles relax. The doctor and nurse can actually seeing the muscles relaxing. As people we are to try and help one another as well as ourselves.
@lioness Magnesium does help. I also take 5 mg. of Melatonin at bedtime as 10 mg. was causing nightmares-go figure. The addition of the Melatonin was a good choice for me. Lyrica was a disaster for me as are most medications. Many things are trial and error. No two people are alike.
It is "unfair" to place everyone in the same box.
So true listen to your body and I can hear you have. Some people have had a stimulator implanted ,now it sounds like there body is rejecting as they have more pain and hives.what's there quality of life?I feel so mad at the extent some companies go to for there own profits.
You are very right about Magnesium. Funny I just pulled an article up about it.from Mercola. I copied it for a friend with heart problems and leg cramps who doesn't believe me about Mg++ lol!
Many years ago as a young pediatric nurse, we had a 17 year-old cross track runner who had to loose a few pounds. He radically decided to fast! No one knew. In school his personality changed and he was belligerent, name calling and even hit the principle. His mother brought him to our ER. When I came on at night the nurses at the desk were laughing about "moms" always saying,"my child would never do that",,,"something's wrong".,,,"he /she is a good kid and never in trouble". The mother was near them and turned around and went back into her son's room. I told them I saw what took place. I always believed Moms. They know their kids and have great "gut" feelings when something is wrong (not speaking of abusers). Anyway I got his Mg++ level back and it was so low. That is why he exhibited all his symptoms. The doctor had me administer IV Magnesium Sulfate and by 4 AM the next dose, he was awake and so alert and his level coming near low normal. His Mom told me she was reporting those nurses for being so uncompassionate and cruel.
Our diets are so low in it and our foods hardly have it in anymore (GMO's).You are so correct!
yes lionness you are correct. but one must add : the taking of different prescription medications also adds into the different outcomes of reactions. sorry to make it more difficult but it must be considered. love peach
You are right that's why you should always check with your Dr.Most of the time herbs and vitamins don't interfere with Prescription medicine but there are those herbals that will interfere especially with Coumadin .What works for one may not for t
Someone else
I get the trigger point injections too! I’m amazed they don’t hurt too much. Last week one on the muscles deep in my hip was quivering so much as it let go the table was actually vibrating.
@parus, I can relate to the negative thinking making pain worse. I have noticed that if I let myself dwell on my pain, it will indeed be worse, but more importantly, one bad day can turn in to two, then a week and so on. Exercise is also my way of dealing with pain, if only for the mental aspect of getting my blood flowing and body moving. I prefer muscle soreness that I created on purpose to joint pain any day!
I like your response as a retired LPN I also do t alot of research on fibro ,pain and found what works for me ,but it may not work for other.I started out with gold shots ,didn't help much, prednisone but only a few ,then Lyrica ,didn't help ,but now on high doses of magnesium ,this helps me better then anything else The government is placing us who need the opiods, narcotics for our pain ,in the same category as drug addicts.Very unfair. We have to help each other with the knowledge we have.
