Medical care
Hi, I live in a smaller town in the tri state area of Nevada, Arizona and California. The medical care is pretty sparse for the general population and nearly impossible for someone like me with the health conditions I have. I was referred to The Mayo clinic and was quickly accepted and granted an appointment. They took away my appointment just as quick when they wouldn't take my Humana Medicare. I am beyond devastated. I have many complex medical problems and am pretty much desperate to get to the Mayo clinic. I have the ability to pay something but Patient account services said the Mayo clinic does do charitable care but not very often. I am heartbroken.

Thank you so much! Yes I'm aware of this ship program I have a call into them in the state of Arizona where I live. I do not qualify for State assistance for Medicare I don't meet their income guidelines I wish I did though. I think I'm going to have to let go of the Mayo clinic because it would be no problem switching over the original Medicare at all but the problem would be a part d program for me yes there are supplemental programs for part d with a low or no premium but it's the drugs that cost so much during those programs my prescription meds would cost hundreds of dollars a month and I can't afford it so I may have to look elsewhere my only other option is to fly back to my hometown which is Denver Colorado and see the specialists I was seeing before I came down here. It would only be two or three times a year and I could drive to Las Vegas and the flights from there to Denver are very very cheap that's my only other option. I thank you so much for your information.
Yes, I have to also pay for a Part D Program. All this Medicare is going to bust me!😉 You have to do what you have to do! Good luck to you!

Thanks so much. Blessings to you as well
The best healthcare for seniors is Original Medicare with a medigap plan. Period. Medicare Advantage Plans are not Original Medicare and have numerous limitations. My advice is to go back to original medicare next enrollment period.
Thank you for your comment. I am understanding of that. But I haven't found one that I can afford actually.
Yes with Medicare, the part B payment , medigap coverage and part D , i don’t want to think about how much we pay monthly for medical coverage. We are currently looking to switching Part D plan doe 2024. It is quite confusing and i don’t take that many medications. I think i have one one that will cover my meds and is less expensive than my current plan. Going to call them tomorrow to verify coverage and details.
I wish the U.S. had universal healthcare like other industrialized nations.
