@oldkarl Did you get to thank the jerk for the compliment. I once went to a a pain clinic and was banned from there for asking an arrogant doctor if he was familiar with the Hippocratic Oath and that I felt he was harming me by negating my pain-called me a headcase. His face turned red as the veins in his neck bulged. He stormed out slamming the door. Guess the truth hurt. Later learned that pain clinic was closed down. I continue to gird my armour on...
Not drug seeking but I am in search of answers.
Advice to others-do not use the Hippocratic oath approach.

Now that made me laugh! Thanks @parus ☺

I took my self of all pain killers as they were not working that’s when I tried the hypnotherapy and I haven’t looked back and it is mentioned in the Mayo book re pain
It worth the effort

Yes. It works for me. Also meditation

@freakers @ed32 - I'm not interested in hypnosis, but I do know that meditation and mindfulness exercises help me. My meditation is a meditating on thoughts from the Bible, and a meditative prayer. Some call it contemplative prayer.

Sorryto hear about your experience. Even higly rated institutions and Doctors have their problems. A pain Doctor at Stanford told me they were going to do one more test and if that did not reveal anything I would have to agree the problem was in my head
I had a very bad respiratory infection that I could not get rid of
It left me with dyspnea to the point I could not walk up a flight of stairs and immense chest and back pain.. They ran all the same respiratory tests that my local hospital had done. Though I asked they not do that and look for an unusual cause. The respiratory Dr. said he would do that
He did not and after many months of seeing him he.had no suggestions other than I think it might be coronary. I had seen their cardiology department before. After a stress test tbey said I needed two stents. They did these and immediately after the Dr. said do you feel better now. I did not
The next day they did an endoscopy and found nothing.
I was ready to give up hope and was nearly suicidal.
I decided to go to Mayo Clinic. Within 2 days and several tests that Stanford would have taken months to do they discovered the problems. I neede a previous stent repaired.in the ADL..I also have a whole in my heart. After replacing the stent Dr. Arsenjani suspected I had achalesia. I returned to Mayo.and the did a pressure test that revealed I had stage three achalesia with spasms and ten times the normal pressure in my esophagus. This accounted for the severe pain. I have had 2 surgeries at.Mayo and my pain was significantly reduced. I am still having problems with the esophogus but my dyspnea is gone. Unfortunately it is very expensive for me to travel to Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. I.am trying to resolve the remainig problem with Stanford since June. So far i have not gotten any better and have pain and breathing and swallowing problems. I am returning to Mayo in November. Stanford was on the wrong trac initially. They should have detected both the heartand achalesia in the tests they ran. Though they never did the required pressure test.
Previously I had a respiratory Doctor tell me it was anxiety
If you are in pain.there is areason.
..Trust yourself. Mayo Clinicnic and Doctor Arsenjani saved my life.
I had been to the emergency room several times before due to the pain. They always said follow up with a Doctor
Even had one Dr. tell me there was nothing wrong at the hospital in a very curt manner.
