I started Forteo 3 mths ago and have bad side affects
I started Forteo 3 mths ago and am dealing with bad side affects. I already suffer from chronic ISBD but now have severe diarrhea and have lost 14lbs and every day from the time I wake up until about 2:30 in the afternoon I'm running to the bathroom, it's increased my migraines, I have hair loss, i was taking BP meds before due to high blood pressure but had to stop because now my BP is incredibly low heart rate is high and my BP crashes at least every 2 weeks to 57/37. I already have angina but now because my BP is low I can't take nitro when I'm suffering with chest pains. When I give myself shots I have no problems on the left side but my right side bruises and bleeds every time... These are just some of what I have been dealing with since starting Forteo. Has anyone else experienced anything like this with these shots???? I can't imagine living like this for 2 years!!!

I have not heard from my Dr. I called them yet again yesterday and they said she was out of the office yesterday but I should hear from her today as soon as she logged into her computer, well they've been open a few hours and no calls and no response on the patient portal. I stopped the shots and I will not try any other shots after this experience! I don't trust anything after everything that happened with this. Again thank you for commenting!
Honestly due to this experience I really do not want to try any more shots! All of these side affects and the way it has affected me, my anxiety has been through the roof. Having to deal with not being able to take nitro when you're throwing pvc's from chest pain and can't because your blood pressure's too low and your heart rates high is awful, add to that you crash every other week to 57/37 is ridiculous! Then the constant diarrhea when you already have chronic ISBD and are now dropping weight and have no appetite, can't sleep, chronic cough that will not stop, and your husband doesn't understand why all of a sudden these things are happening and just says you need to eat more, quit coughing! Etc, etc, just compounds the already overloaded anxiety and makes it so I can't talk to him. I'm beyond frustrated! 😢😢😢
And that's not even all!
you need to stop taking forteo because your body is telling you something it will not get better. i had a severe reaction from just 1 peolia and had to wait 6 months for it to maybe get out of my body i will not take these drugs they are poison
@naomikrst maybe you can switch to Tymlos which has an adjustable dose. I was completely unable to tolerate Forteo but I started Tymlos at a low dose and worked up. I have taken 3/4 dose most of the time and still had excellent gains.
So after waiting 4 full days for a response from my Dr, this is the message that was sent to me in patient portal! To say I'm upset and angry would be an understatement!
Hi Ms. Kristinic. Per Dr. would like for you to keep your follow up and she will discuss your concerns at that time.
---That's her total response to everything I'm dealing with!!! Unreal!!!
I'm totally done trying any shots of any kind after this experience! I don't trust any of them, and I definitely don't trust my Dr anymore!
If that is the entirety of the response you received, not concurring with your decision to quit or even mentioning it, I would find the response completely unacceptable. However, I have to wonder if that was from the doctor or from the nurse. I have limited experience but it seems to me that all too often staff plays gatekeeper inappropriately.

Naomi, have you been tested for hyperparathyroidism. Your symptoms, including bone loss, align with the possibility of that there may be trouble with one of your parathyroid glands. taking Forteo or Tymlos would aggravate the condition.

It is worse than sad that you don't have support at home.
If you can't talk to him, don't listen either.
