Can allodynia be caused by shingles?
Hi. I had shingles in my right groin area many years ago. I've heard of post-herpetic nerve pain (or whatever it's called). My allodynia started abruptly in late January of this year. It covers my back from my shoulders to below my hips and side to side, continuing weakly down my arms. Any relationship to the shingles, which were in the front groin area?
If anybody can answer, it will rule out cause, if not add treatment.

Hello @andiedeluca1949, From what I've read shingles is one of the conditions that can cause allodynia.
"Allodynia can result from several conditions. The most common causes of allodynia include diabetes, shingles, fibromyalgia and migraine headaches."

Have your doctors suggested any treatments to help with the nerve pain?
Thank you for your response. Yes, I understand that allodynia can be caused by shingles, but would it be in the same area on the body that the shingles erupted? That requires more specific information.
