History -60 year old male 2 major back surgeries age 26 and 28. L4-L5, L5-S1. Ruptured discs bending over. First laminectomy, second intended hardware change during surgery facet joints not removed weight gain a factor. Fusion done without bone removed from pelvis. Chronic pain ensued after first surgery. Workers comp refused to pay and waited one year one darvon , prednisone and anti inflammatory. Only drug still available is prednisone. Multiple failed procedures and treatments. Eight trips thru physical therapy. Always resulted in more pain. Ten years later Nueropathy from spine. Has gradually increased in pain with constant pain directly on spin interminet pain in both legs . Fity Nine yrs old one year ago rupture of L1-L2, L2-L3 .Had lost weight by this time from bariatric surgery. Lost ability to walk without assitance and a rolling cart. Cage Surgery successful. Pain persistant. Nueropthy reaching unberable levels. Cymbalta 60mg max dose Gapation 800mg x3 per day. Laying down flat inceases nueropathy pain, numbness, and tingling. Require trazadone 150mg/day at bedtime. Provides 4-6 hrs sleeps. Naps without medicene are not possible . Methadone 20 mg x 3 for pain. Somewhat effective, been using for at least 17 years. Daily pain levels from 8 to 10.
Moved to WV. New doc wants to reduce methadone to 40 daily and restart procedures. Been there done that. Will consider disectomy if correct area is located. All the mental issues that go along with long term chronic pain. Titrated off 2mg x 3 of clonazepam after 17 years of use. Currently titrating off Lamictal 2x 150mg daily after 17 yrs. Both my idea, Have never been addicted to any of numerous narcotics. Drug urine, blood tests always clean. Desparately seeking any relief. No real life. Forced from hospital computer technical management position 17 yrs ago. Very lonely. Thanks Please excuse errors.

Welcome @tlock47, I'm sorry to hear you haven't been able to find much relief for your neuropathy pain from the back surgeries. I know this must be really difficult to deal with on a daily basis. I'm wondering if you might find the following discussion started by @jenniferhunter helpful:
