Severe pain continues after gall bladder removal !
After dealing with episodes of severe abdominal pain for years, finally had my gallbladder removed. expecting to have condition resolved, but I continue to have severe, pain, 6 months after surgery. Doctors do not have any answers. My father and my grandmother had this pain and were pain free after removal of their gall bladder. I have a young family and full time job and am very active, but when I get these attacks of pain I am basically paralized. I cannot move. Nothing helps !
I just have to wait it out. Sometimes for hours. Has anyone found an answer to this situation.
Thank you

Thank you so very much for sending on this information !
I have been researching MALS and the information from the Mayo Clinic is so helpful. Just the fact that they use a collaborative approach with doctors who are specialists in different areas is brilliant. I have been going from one doctor to another without any answers. If they were collaborating and sharing their expertise they might figure out what is wrong. I wish I could find an institution in Chicago that is using the same approach to diagnosis. Thank you.
There is a doctor in Chicago that handles MALS. I don't remember the name but people from the MALS Facebook page mentions the name all the time. Check out the page. Its amazing with a wealth of information.
Thank you !
Me Too
It’s been a year since mine was taken out
My pain is in my upper right quadrant feels like a sharp biting digging pain around the wound scar from where they went in laparoscopically
Turns out I am not crazy , my dr Recently found a nueroma
I have been to many doctors had every test imaginable
Going for a trigger point injection which I am told will hopefully kill the nerve that the nueroma is causing.
If it works I will post it for you and all our fellow sufferers.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am clearly dealing with a condition that is hard to diagnose. I am thinking the only way to get an answer is to go to the Mayo Clinic, but I have a full time job and three active children so I am not sure how I could go there. I wish I had access to their diagnostic structure in Chicago. This pain is severe. As though I am being stabbed in the area of where my gallbladder was. In fact the pain is the same as it was before I had it removed in June. Keep in touch. We will help each other !
That’s exactly what I’m saying which is why I went to my GI who asked me if I was ever examined for surgical lesions which is when he examined me and discovered this Nueroma which requires a shot where the pain is
We aren’t the only ones suffering
He referred me to a pain mgmt dr who is very familiar with this .
I feel your pain
Just sayin
Good Luck with your surgery !
Please share how you make out and I hope this is the end of your pain !
wishing you the best !
I have pretty much the same symptom, with no medical professional being able to explain it. My surgery was at the end of June. I also (only after the gall bladder removal) seem not to be able to eat any dairy products. I also feel bloated and sick along with abdominal pain intermittently. Still searching for answers, but you are not alone.
I am going through the same with no answers. The pain is debilitating and almost causes me to pass out
I am so sorry that you are having to go through this !
Please find a gastroenterologist who will do an MRCP with contrast. This MRI will locate the cause of the pain and give the surgeon the information needed to address the source of your pain.
Good Luck !
I hope you find help.
