My surgery for BILATERAL HIP REPLACEMENT was cancelled on M, 10/23/23. Rescheduled to M, 12/04/23 now. I am reading posts in this support group about thigh pain after replacements. It's really scaring me. I do also have bulging discs in my back which cause pain as well. My Ortho surgeon told me the hip replacements wont fix my back--I understand that. I am wondering how common the thigh pain is. I really need pain relief--I don;t want any thigh pain after the replacements.

It's a different kind of pain, it's mostly numbness and some pain. But not like the pain you're going through now. It's a healing pain. I had my hips done 3 1/2 weeks apart and went back to work 7 weeks after the second one, I'm a casino dealer and was on my feet all day and also walking, which I think helped in my recovery. Remember that they are going through layers of muscles and nerves so there will be numbness and pain. I’ve managed the pain pretty well with Tylenol. I really hope you get the relief you need!
