Rapaglinide - can I take it w/o injection if necessary?
If I go out to eat and cannot get to bathroom in restaurant to give myself insulin, is it ok to take rapaglinide pill and wait until next meal for insulin?

When I was taking insulin using a vial & syringe or a prefilled pen I didn’t feel the need to go to the restroom to do it. I could use my abdomen, my upper arms, my thighs with a bit of discrete adjusting of my clothes. I even went through my clothes if I was fairly certain of the area I was hitting. That can however dull the needle, but you’re not supposed to reuse needles anyways. If you are eating out with family or friends, one of them can assist you to the restroom &/or inject you after a bit of training.
Thank you so much for your reply. You are not injecting insulin now? I will definitely keep in mind what you said, thank you!
@cindiwass I am currently using an insulin pump instead of injections.
Thank you for your answer. Do you like it?
@cindiwass do you mean do I like the insulin pump? I have used it since February. I have had an improvement in HbA1C. I think I also have less blood glucose spikes and lows. I use it in conjunction with a continual glucose monitor (Dexcom G6 CGM). It uses an algorithm to suggest mealtime and correction boluses that I don’t understand at all. Apparently it is capable of calculating insulin on board (IOB) and making adjustments based on that. I find it to be quite complicated and a bit challenging to deal with.
Hi. Thank you for your comments, I appreciate it. I do find it helps to ask the complicated questions to either my practitioner or the pharmacist. It sounds a bit complicated for me at this point. Take care.
