What do others do about inflammation?

What do others do about inflammation? For the first time I have received a shot of cortisone in my right hand. But I am experiencing inflammation everywhere. Any suggestions other than cortisone to rid my body of this painful inflammation?

Try eating an anti inflammatory protocol diet for a while. When I eat this way my inflammation is way down. Also, have a food sensitivity test done. I’m sensitive to foods that are allowed even on the AIP diet and are supposed to be good for inflammation such as ginger…

My functional medicine doctor drew the blood and sent it to a lab. I had to pay out of pocket for mine. My granddaughter had one done at her GP and her insurance paid for it.

Is it simply a blood test? I thought you needed to eliminate things from your diet as well to assess the reaction

Simple blood test. Then of course I eliminated the offenders. I try adding them back in every so
Often and watch for negative reactions. Most of them cause some reactions so I just choose not to eat them.

Hope you notified your doc about that reaction!

Inflammation from a cortizone shots is common up to about 48 hours, then it subsides. I have had several and had inflammation for a short period of time (at least in my case). I've never had a doctor tell me to change my diet to lessen inflammation from cortizone nor have I ever been in communication with anyone who has been told that. Everyone's body reacts differently to a given drug, of course, but overall, I would have to say that if you have inflammation long enough that you think you need supplements, which can take weeks to build up in your system, you need to see a doctor immediately because you may be having an allergic (or similar) reaction.

Acceptance is part of the answer; however, I am having a difficult time accepting this is going to be my condition for the rest of my life. But I know it is. What about diet? Is there anything I should avoid? I read a Mediterreon diet is the best. Any truth to that?

My doctor who treats my dysautonomia stresses that I should stay on the anti-inflammatory diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables, no preservatives. Basically it's a Mediterrean diet. I started out sticking to it and honestly felt better but I got sick and my husband fixed whatever was easy so I've been off it and I can tell. Inflammation, fatigue, inability to control my body temperature, a "sick" that I really can't describe. When this happens I have to go to bed because I can't hold my head up. More info than you wanted, I'm sure. I hope you feel better.

@maddiemae For inflammation I drink a strong tea of boiled fresh ginger root to which I add a small amount of concentrate black cherry juice. Sometimes I drink this hot and sometimes I drink it cold with an equal part of seltzer. I notice the difference when I go through a few days of not drinking my anti-inflammatory concoction. When I drink about a quart of this a day, I don't have to take any NSADs.

I think drinking ginger root is great but unfortunately I just can't handle the taste. Wish I could because I'm sure it would be great for my inflammation. What do you think about tablets?
