@davidrona there is one thing about exercise that is critical. It must be 'measured' meaning if you do too much you will worsen and not improve your symptoms. Also if you do too little you will not get better. You must approach exercise as if you were an injured athlete. You can't instantly go back to as much exercise as you did prior to injury. I once was 45 minutes aerobic elliptical and resistance 6X per week. My typical workout was 26 minutes elliptical at the high end of my aerobic zone and then 2 X 25 push ups, 3 X 10 squats, sit-ups, etc keeping my hear rate in my aerobic range. That was hurting and not helping my recovery. Per my Mayo plan I am now focused on muscle strength (not cardio) at 10 minutes elliptical, 6 push ups, 6 squats (woo hoo), but it it part of an overall recovery program and the program is working.
Hi arichards 3 -
i simply put excercise ( swimming / biking/community) - you can do what you will with that. you want to measure it? go for it, you simply want to take a walk cause that's all you're able to do with some and that makes you feel better? great.
Do you have long covid?
If not - i really ONLY want to hear from those of us who do. We are the only one's who know what works and what doesn't. i have no patience hearing from anyone who doesn't. best D
I do have Long Covid. I am doing IV infusions with an Integrative Medicine doctor to get my immune system built back up. I have only had 2 and they consist of Vitamin C, B Vitamins,Zinc & Glutathione. I am also taking lots of vitamins, eating clean, staying away from sugar and listening to my body. I nap daily. I am pretty much exercise intolerant, but, I try to keep moving. I have Covid again right now for the 2nd time....UGH! Rest is healing with Covid and I am doing a lot of that. I also use Jade Leaf Machta Green Tea in my smoothies daily to help with autoimmune issues. Covid greatly affected my lungs (asthma bronchitis & pneumonia), Acid reflux and my joints. I just learned from my pulmonary doctor that Reflux and Asthma work against each other. I pray you continue to get better and stronger. We have to find our own way with Long Covid as we are all so different with it.
I do have Long COVID. It was caused by my booster in November '21. After a journey through many medical professionals in Charleston SC I went to Mayo Rochester in August of this year. My response is from what I have been taught by these medical professionals. Carefully progressed measured exercise is what Mayo coaches in their Peacock program. If you go too fast you hurt your progress.
@arichards3
Do you have any research (from reputable sources) that backs up your statement that a booster caused your long Covid?
I don’t know of any research that connects them. My symptoms began within weeks of the booster and I hadn’t had COVID. When I asked Mayo medical personnel if others had told them the same thing their answer was “yes we have had many people say the same thing”.
i want to delete my contribution - anyone know how to do this? thanks d
David, Your contribution was most informative and I wish you wouldn't delete it. Thank you.
Everyone here has their heart in the right place and is trying to help others. We are caught in a Hell that we are all trying to escape. I have gone down the protocol roads suggested by others, and gotten no help, but I don’t hold anyone responsible.
I’m finally working with an Integrative medical group and hope for help. But, everyone is struggling in the dark.
Yes! This is exactly what I was told at the Long Covid clinic last month.
Another Long Covid sufferer I know is using an app called Visible, which measures your exertion and keeps you on the path between too little and too much exercise.
