Symptoms of stage 4 lung cancer - diagnosed 1 month ago

@stramont, Welcome to Mayo Connect. I'm glad that others have piped in and welcomed you too. The symptoms that you are experiencing are likely related to the lung cancer. When I was diagnosed, I was struggling with the pressure from the lymph nodes that were quite enlarged and working overtime. I felt so much better after I started treatment. Your consult appointment was today, was that with an oncologist? Did they share a treatment plan yet?

Oncologist recommended Immunotherapy w/o Chemo! I’m so glad. Infusion every three weeks with monitoring in three months. Can’t wait to get started!!

@stramont, when do you start treatment? How are you doing?

I’m scheduled for initial consult with a local oncologist tomorrow and will be given a schedule of treatments. I’m experiencing some back/chest pressure and increased coughing and overall low energy, not everyday but often. Thank you for reaching out to me. It’s when you have challenges like this that you realize what a gift some people can be! I feel blessed to have found this site!

@stramont, I hope your appointment went well. When you know that you have cancer, and are feeling worse, it's not very hopeful. Be assured that treatment should help. Based on your increased symptoms, are they able to start treatment fairly soon?

I’ve been a lung cancer client (don’t want to use the word Patient) since May 2018. The patient portal is a wonderful tool for keeping you abreast of all things associated with your care, including doctor’s notes of your visits.
