Diarrhea with an Ostomy? Should I not have a reversal?

It may or may not be the same. They removed your sigmoid but I'm not sure if that would be an indication of how high a colostomy you have. I would suggest finding a provider who can get the Portuguese records translated and do a examination to see what you have going on. I assume you still have your rectum/ anus. Otherwise a reversal is not going to be possible.

I had an Ileostomy in 2007, reversal in 2008. I had very loose stools, and I only lasted with my reversal 5 years. I was so glad to go back to the bag in 2013! I had to take at least 6 Imodium a day, and still had to get to the bathroom way too often! Do your research, get second opinions from surgeons. Living with a bag is no picnic, but neither is diarrhea 24/7 using calamine lotion and having to wrap your body like a burrito with a blanket to contain leaks in bed! Many do well, but you don’t want to be one of those who don’t!
