Oh, and I don’t know if I’ve mentioned here that the phlegm production and often accompanying chest flutters aka shortness of breath ( not bad as in I can’t breathe but the need to focus on getting a deep breath) has been diagnosed by pulmonary as asthma ( Covid induced or perhaps present in a very mild sense and brought out by Covid). The treatment I received for that kept me breathing super freely but did not eliminate chest pain and phlegm. I stopped it after 5 months and ending up with bacterial bronchitis which I have never ever had before ( just so happens to be a potential side effect of the Symbicort treatment). Apparently when the stomach sends acid upwards into the esophagus and even throat/sinuses, there’s a respiratory response that produces mucus, or phlegm as a protective measure. It’s my opinion that it’s all related to inflammation and that Covid caused it all. But what’s that worth? Nada so far.
Hello again,
So I swapped out the omeprazole for famotidine but it was not strong enough to deal with my acid reflux (I have a hiatus hernia). My doctor said I could take both so I tried that but same same. I also tried introducing the beef liver extract but without a noticeable change - this was all a few weeks ago.
However, just these past few days, things do seem to have shifted slightly away from the quite thick and copious mucus production I have experienced over the past 2 or so years, to something much less in quantity. Has something triggered this? Has it just run it's course? Is it just a lapse? I guess time will tell. I will again report back with any further news.
Thanks again and good luck all with this horrible thing.
Well I’ll be seeing my primary doc early November but after completing 2 weeks of famotodine I have little to no chest pain but phlegm production and coughing it up, while improved for a brief time when I first started it, is back. My primary did say this could take some time (why didn’t she start this a year ago?) and that if famotodine (histamine blocker) doesn’t do it she’ll move me to a PPI ( but isn’t that what omeprozole is?). A year ago she attributed the phlegm to Covid and ‘ride it out’. That didn’t work. At this point I’m not sure anything will but for now I’ll keep up with famotodine and avoid food triggers.
