Blood on toilet paper for 6 years
Hi, ive had blood on the toilet paper on and off now for about 6 years. I've been to see a doctor and they said it's haemorrhoids? I've had no other symptoms. Just worried it might be more than haemorrhoids

The only way to really
Know is the get a colonoscopy. But if it was colon cancer you would know by now after 6 years.
Colon cancer is very treatable but early detection is still the best way to go..
Thank you, ive been to a second doctor this weekend he also says it's haemorrhoids. I unfortunately cannot afford a colonoscopy right now.
This may give you some comfort. I had colo rectal surgery surgery 2 years ago and resection about 6 months ago. Things were going great up until about 3 months ago. I began seeing blood, similar to what you describe. Of course, I was greatly concerned and made an appointment with my family doctor. He sent me for a colonoscopy. Thankfully, they didn’t find anything. It turned out to be hemorrhoids. I was told to take Colace and Metamucil for a few days and it worked perfectly. Whenever I see blood now, I do the same thing and it disappears almost overnight. I hope this helps.
If you can’t afford to have a colonoscopy the doctor can order a kit that allows you to provide specimens at home..it’s very simple to follow and then you send it by mail to the address on the envelope they provide for you. It’s just another way to get yourself checked and not costly.
The home kit will come back positive any time blood is detected. So i wouldn’t advise it.
Okay thanks for letting me know 👍
@samuelg1950 , I must apologize for suggesting that you get the colon test kit to do at home…I was advised that the kit is not going to work if there’s blood in your specimen…I sincerely hope you will get the help you need very soon so you don’t have to worry so much, best wishes for you
Thank you very everyone's input. I forgot to mention that I am 35 years old from South Africa
If the blood is red and not dark, it is in the lower part, so go to a Proctologist for just a lower sigmoidoscopy. Will save you money & you can ask for a lower price if you do not have insurance , its done in a Doctors office without anethetics, which saves a lot. I had one done in my 30’s.
