Simultaneous hip replacement?

I experienced hair loss after surgery. I’m still losing my hair 5 months later. Also I have been cold since surgery which was really a shock since I live in New England and it’s colder here than it was in New York. I used to wear summer pjs year round but after surgery had to wear fleece. Very disturbing. Also I have another issue that I brought up with the doctor but she cannot find a reason for it. As someone mentioned this is a shock to the system. It’s major surgery. Sometimes we forget that. Personally I would not have both hips done at the same time. One was hard enough.

I had several shots for back pain usualy 3 or 4 months apart. The last time I had one, before I got to the car I was so cold I felt like I was freezing, so I can relate to your being cold. I called the office concerned, only to have to leave a msg. No call back after 2 days. I was still feeling very cold, wrapped in lots of blankets & even using the heating pad, very little help. I called several more times to the Dr. office, I never got a call back. Very upset to say the least. I just wanted to know if this was a normal reaction, which I stated when I left my msg on their ans. machine. Needless to say, I never went back. This was about 7 or 8 yrs ago. To this day, I am still cold. I asked my regular Dr., she has no answer either. All my blood work comes back normal. I am still cold, but not like I was right after that last shot. I keep our A/C at 80 all year. It helps, but I am even cold at that. I wear socks all the time at home to help my feet, which is the coldest part of me and dress for warmth. My regular Dr. has checked me for circulation, it is normal. There is just no answer. There should be a reason, but noone has any answers. I also had back surgery 2 yrs ago, At least it didn't add to my being cold, but now facing hip surgery, but am not sure if I should have it. I have no pain, so have been putting it off. I can't see how anyone could have both done at the same time. I am wondering if age has anything to do with the coldness. I am now 84. Luckily I am in good health otherwise. Your being cold, too, is the first time I have ever heard someone else having this problem. My hair is also thinning, but I think it is age related. Hope you are better.

My surgeon was highly recommended because he performs the anterior approach .
I’ve been reading about having one vs both but still not sure.

So did you have both hips done then Jerelyn? I am scheduled for both same time...anterior approach...outpatient ...home same day is anticipated...my surgery is M, 10/23/23

No I I opted to do left in July and right is planned for 11/1

Hi Jerelyn, I think I might have been one of those who discouraged you from simultaneous surgery.
Now that you have recently had your surgery, what would be your advice to @shoppingdiane? How do you think your recovery might have gone with both hips done at the same time & going home the day of surgery?

So, did you have BILATERAL HIP REPLACEMENT jerelyn? I am scheduled for same M, 10/23/23..I hope it goes well..anterior approach..outpatient..home same day is anticipated..
