Bone Coach - How do you know it works?
I have seen several people here joined Bone Coach. How do you know your osteoperosis is better. The testimonials talk about general health improving which adherence to any healthy diet may have done the same.
There is no science shown. It's pricey but worth it if it works.

@leeosteo, thanks so very much. I just ordered Great Bones 2 days ago and it was on my doorstep last evening so I am going to open it today! I happened to see a video. part of one, with the author, and was very impressed with his knowledge - I didn't have his earlier book.
Last night I happened to see a program that had 2 people I'd never heard of, "Buff Bones" and Dr. Doug Lucas but I'm not looking further into that, just curious as to when people start cautioning 'there are exercises you MUST do and those you should NEVER do" and I would like to work with a local PT and don't want to have to feel concerned that a well trained PT wouldn't know these things. I guess I'll see if they match all those taught by Betz, Melio Guide (don't have their resources yet), etc.
It's all rather confusing at this point. I am waiting to review dexa w/PCP - can make nothing of it myself.
alexxa, read the chapter on DEXA results in the Great Bones book. This will help you prepare questions for your dexa review with your PCP.
My PCP never caught an issue with my DEXA detail around L1-4 vertebrate. My PCP may have only read the summary report vs looking at the detail x rays. If you can, get a detailed copy of your DEXA from whomever performed the test, read McCormick's chapter on DEXA, and formulate your questions for the PCP.
Thanks!!
Hi over60gal: you posted this resolve to test again in four months. Since it is now six months, and since I too am trying to go the same route (instead of AlgeCal though I'm using Bone Broth and Collagen/Peptides, and the vitamins with K2, calcium, D3) --I hope you can tell me the results of your efforts now.
How long were you on Fosamax? Did you have any problems with it? Thank you
I was on Fosamax for 4.5 years. I did not have any side effects. My bone density scan after I stopped the Fosamax showed an increase in bone density so that I was no longer in the osteoporosis range. I was, and I still am, active every day with strength training through weights, and walking every day.
Thanks for sharing. Do you have a personal trainer? Or a reference site/book/internet that you use for guidance? I will be seeing a physical therapist this week, where my strength will be measured and exercises assigned. I hope to strengthen my bones(now with osteoporosis, especially the lower spine at 3.8) without medications. I hope this message is not repetitious. If so, please forgive.
@lashu I first went to PT for pelvic floor therapy. They referred me to a gym with personal trainers where I received a discount for 3 months. That was more than 2 years ago and I liked working with a personal trainer so much that I’ve continued. We work on strength, balance, and flexibility. I’ve learned far more from the personal trainer than I could have imagined on my own. I can workout at the gym anytime I choose, too, without the trainer.
Thank you, Helen, for your help. I have signed into two classes for Senior Strength and Functional Fitness with an instructor who is part of my health club. While he says that these exercises suffice for my purpose, I also will see a PT Tuesday for evaluation and exercises. I am also trying to construct the best diet for this. The instructor has recommended a prebiotic and probiotic food balance and I'm working on that. Hopefully my next DEXA scan will show improvement in bone mass.
as others have mentioned, Melioguide (https://melioguide.com/) is a great resource for learning how to move and exercise safely. She has very informative videos on appropriate exercise with osteoporosis. Surprisingly, most PTs are not familiar with limitations in movement in those with osteoporosis. I've had many PTs since being diagnosed and I've always had to tell them what movements I would not do as most had no clue that curling forward was contraindicated. Best to educate yourself first so that you can educate them and then get a plan of appropriate and safe exercises.
