@timhtx

I’m a 58 year old male with severe osteoarthritis in my hands. No pain, I’ve just watched them deteriorate over the past 7 years to the point where I’m now considering surgery and having the pip joints replaced

I would have done sooner but I’ve battled throat cancer and a broken wrist over the past 2.5 years

I’m looking for individuals that have had their PIP joints replaced and the outcome of same, also whether any of the replaced joints were already fused before the surgery.

Appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you

Hi @timhtx, I moved your discussion and combined it with an existing discussion titled: "Proximal Interphalangeal replacement" - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/proximal-interphalangeal-replacement/. @jessiel also talked about their experience with this surgery.

@timhtx, what is your timeline for the surgery? Have you fused some of your joints already?
