Liver Disease

Posted by launica0987 @launica0987, Oct 13, 2023

I was diagnose with liver disease over 5 year ago, I don't drink alcohol or smoke. I have being having complication with my stomach and the doctor can't pin point the pain. I have got another ultrasound but the doctor is saying is the same as 5 year ago. The test show this for Gallbladder and Liver:

Gallbladder: Echogenic, shadowing gallstones with no gallbladder wall thickening, distension, pericholecystic fluid, or focal tenderness over the gallbladder. Cholelithiasis

Liver: PORTAL VEINS: There is hepatopetal flow into the liver in the main portal vein. The intrahepatic portal veins are patent. No reversed (hepatofugal) portal venous flow out of the liver is seen to suggest portal hypertension. The velocity in the main
portal vein is 31.6 cm/s. (Normal portal vein velocity is 15-30 cm/s).

SPLENIC VEIN: Patent

HEPATIC VEINS: The right, left, and middle hepatic veins are patent. The hepatic veins possess a triphasic waveform, with both respiratory variation and cardiac pulsatility.

HEPATIC ARTERY: The hepatic artery is patent with a peak systolic velocity of 87 cm/s. (Normal hepatic artery velocity is 30-60 cm/s).

Is it best for me to get a second opinion in a different doctor or just go with what my doctor instruction in eating a healthy diet and away from Tylenol. Is my first time and need more advice with somebody that is going thru the same situation as mine. What is the best home remedy to keep a healthy Liver and Gallbladder.

A strict diet works but eventually, that gallbladder will have to come out. As far as the liver, for me, it was also strict diet so I lost weight and has helped my liver.

in reply to @launica0987 I have been advised to drink milk thistle tea for liver disease. I too have a liver disease, even though the hepatologist keeps telling me that I do not. Suffice to say I have removed myself from her service. I recommend you find a new doctor, if you can. It took me almost 4 years to see a liver specialist, and while she confirmed that my liver may be damaged as a result of the pain medication I take, I still take it, even though a pain patch would be much better in terms of my liver and pain control. I looked at your information, and I highly recommend you get a second opinion. As a result of my "liver disease" I have lost 40 percent of my weight, no doctor knows what to do for me, other than to prescribe drugs that would cause further damage. So, I don't take anything other than the pain medication which I sorely need, the lomotil for chronic diarrhea and klonopin when the world gets crazy beyond belief. I wish you the best of luck and hope that your healthcare journey goes better than mine. If not for the fact that doctors would stop seeing me if I stopped going, I would not even go near a doctor having been through what I have over the past 4 years. One really has to be their own advocate, and sometimes this in itself is exhausting. While I have lost a lot of weight, I still lift weights daily so as not to lose muscle mass. If you are losing weight, I would encourage you to lift weights, even if they are just soup cans. I have 2 pound weights, and after doing this routine I do everyday after my shower, I have to say that I look pretty darn good. Best of luck and keep me posted. Oh, my liver and pancreatic ducts are dilated, and as a result I have no appetite. However, even knowing I have this problem with my liver, the hepatologist continues to tell me, "there is nothing wrong with your liver."
