Any tips on reducing number of Hot flashes after ADT
Had ADT over a month ago. Start having Hot Flashes after two weeks. It is mild and usually lasted for only a few minutes. Having about 10 times each day during the day and night - anytime. The worse is in the middle of the night (a couple times) makes me get up and go to the bathroom.
Any tips to reduce the frequency of Hot Flashes after ADT would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sure. I do weights for legs every 4-5 days, and the same for upper body weightlifting. On these days, I try to get 15-20 minutes of cardio as well (50-60 minutes total workout). I do yoga once a week for 45 minutes. On the remaining days I try to do 45 minutes of straight cardio (treadmill, hike with the dog, etc.). Not sure if it helps or not with my very limited hot flashes, but I definitely think it helps me to avoid/limit fatigue. Best of luck to you!
Yes,
I too was prescribed this and it does help out
Thanks for your reply florida11. You are pretty active ... good for you.
Had RP in April this year and ADT a month ago. Have been jogging and walking daily for 1-2 hours the last 4 months. If the weather is not good, will walk/jog on the treadmill. Since still have UI and wearing 1 pad a day, just afraid to do weight lifting as it can make UI worse. Try to tolerate the mild hot flashes without taking any med (may have side effects). Will have radiation in a about two weeks. Hope Rad will not make Hot Flashes worse.
I'm on Venlafaxine as well. It does help mitigate the hot flashes. Wife tells me I'm a "nicer" person to be around as well. However, I've found that higher intensity exercise (at least 20 min/day) helps me most. I swim and work out with weights. Best wishes!
