MichaelCharles,

It was my first choice for treatment but I was informed that the Proton Therapy goes through the sides through the hips area. The titanium would block or disperse the radiation.
I confirmed this with Mayo, UF Cancer, Johns Hopkins and Miami Baptist. They all have proton but said they wouldn't do it.

Yes the proton goes sides on each side. You actually get a tan mark on each side about 3 weeks in.

The new photon radiation treatments can focus on avoiding areas like this but as with all photon radiation it will pass through body not end at prostrate.

Very interesting.
I received my IMRT salvage radiation at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore.
A friend received his Salvage Radiation at JH's Sibling Memorial Hospital facility in Washington DC, which has proton. He actually is in a clinical trial there, but it's related to the hormone cocktail, not the type of radiation, I believe, and his clinical trial radiation at Sibley is proton.
So your post attracted my attention.
Best wishes for successful treatment.
