Hi @harrison221, may I ask what led to your needing an ostomy? How long have you had it and how are you doing?

Coleen, I have had Crohn's for almost 60 years with 2 resections. I had a gall bladder problem and they removed my gall bladder. After the gallbladder removal I began to have Diverticulitis. It continued to get worse until I was having it every month. I had a problem with Cipro and Flagyl and Amoxcillian quite working. I would have to go to the hospital to be put on an IV with Zosyn. Finally I was told than I needed Surgery. I went back to Mayo and visited with the Surgeon. After review he indicated that since I had two previous operations and lost so much colon and the Diverticulitis was so bad and in many places that total colon removal would be my best option. I had my colon removed on march 14, 23. I now have a low Magnesium problem. I take 400 mg Magnesium tablets twice a day and get a Magnesium infusion every week. Hope this will improve in the future. I am totally free of pain and no longer have to take meds for Crohn's. I'm much better off since the operation.

I have had Crohn's for about 60 years with 2 resections. A few years ago I had to have my Gallbladder removed. After removing my Gallbladder I began to have Diverticulitis and after a few years it got so bad that they had to remove my Colon in Mar of 23. I am doing well and have got my life back.
