I was found to have HER2 positive breast cancer at the age of 79. I had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. After the dose of taxol was adjusted, the chemo, sitting hooked up ,under a warm blanket, being served apple juice and biscuts, was a nice relaxing experience.
I lost my hair from the chemo and it came back in much nicer that it ever had been since I was n 6 years old.
I'll be 82 in a couple of days and I'm visiting a friend in Texas. I had to run to get a shuttle, then was dropped off and had to run at least 1/2 mile with my suitcase to get the train that took me to be picked up on to my final destination.. I did fine.
I ended up with neuropathy from the chemo and can't drive.
If you need chemo ask if there is something you can do to avoid neuropathy. Good luck. It "aint" so bad. I go in every 6 months for an MRI or CTscan and see my oncologist every 6 months. So far, so good.
